On this episode of The Podcasting Underground I answer the question… How much is your podcast worth? This is based on a recent post on my blog. If someone were to buy your podcast today, how would they determine its value?

The purpose of this discussion isn’t necessarily to help you sell your podcast, but rather to illustrate a number of metrics you could use to determine the value and success of your podcast in addition to the traditional “size of your audience”-type stats.

In this episode I outline 24 points that you can use to determine the ongoing value and success of your podcast. Some of these come from this Blog Herald post. Here are the 24 points I talk about:

This week I attended a networking breakfast called the New York :: Media Information Exchange Group. This monthly event attracts a number of media producers to chat, eat and listen to a keynote speaker. I attended with a number of the PodCamp NYC organizers to promote and make connections.

I was so impressed by the insights shared by keynote speaker, Fred Siebert, that I had to postpone my originally planned outline for this episode in order to share the notes I scratched out on my legal pad during his talk.

Fred is a longtime TV producer and media executive whose resume includes MTV, Nickleodeon and Hannah-Barbera. He currently runs an independent animation studio whose media properties include the Channel Frederator podcast. His perspective and experience can benefit traditional and new media types alike. Listen in as I review his thoughts on how to stay relevant in the current media landscape.

In this episode I talk about why you shouldn’t ask your site visitors to “subscribe” to your podcast. This may sound like a shocking statement, but I reveal why how many podcasters may be missing the boat when it comes to converting site visitors to podcast subscribers. [inpired by this post by Michael Geoghegan]

Then I discuss why every podcaster should also be a blogger. I offer nine reasons to have a blog as a podcaster. Here’s the thread from the Podcasters Yahoo! Group that I mention.

I also give a status update on Podcasting University and Podcasting 101.
